Hype 1B2 2012-2013

Overview

The HyPE 1B2 rocket was the culmination of the project which started Rocket Project. Its creation took 5 years and was developed to compete in the annual ESRA IREC. It features a custom hybrid rocket motor flying on a parraffin wax and HTPB based fuel with liquid nitrous as the oxidizer. From test fires it was measured to produce 3885 Newtons thrust for 10.1 seconds, enough to carry the rocket and payload to its target altitude of 25,000 ft. Due to complications during setup, HyPE 1B2 was not launched during the 2013 competition.
