Special Thanks: Foster and Coco Stanback

(The Beginning of Our Liquid Rocket Effort)

May 10, 2017

This academic year, the Rocket Project at UCLA received a $25,000 donation from Foster and Coco Stanback to enter the FAR/Mars Society Launch Contest to build a liquid bi-propellant fueled rocket that can reach 45,000 feet. The FAR/Mars Society Launch Contest will be held at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) launch site in Mojave, California on May 5th, 2018. In years past, the Rocket Project worked on hybrid propulsion systems with a very limited budget. This extremely generous donation will allow us to expand our horizons and explore more complex liquid propulsion systems, revamp our tools and appliances in our lab space, and reduce the financial burden on the members of the club. We would like to thank Coco and Foster Stanback for providing us not only with the opportunity to compete in this exciting competition but for providing us the means by which we can enrich our academic experience and give back to our school.
